Beelink SER6 7735HS Non-functioning DisplayPort

2023-08-09 Hardware 412Linux

While setting up my BeeLink 7735HS, I found the DisplayPort would not present a screen on my monitor. While this worked perfectly on my previous setup, I figured it had to do with the HDMI to DisplayPort cable I was utilizing. I switched the cable and found the issue remained. While performing the standard internet search, I ran across this article which suggested the issue may be related to the supported version of DisplayPort for the cable. The article suggested version 1.4 was required for the device to present on the monitor. I ordered an active DisplayPort to HDMI version 1.4 adapter and eagerly awaited its delivery. In the meantime, I plugged in a Thunderbolt 3 dock into the 7735HS, plugged the monitor into the TB3 dock using my existing DisplayPort cable, and it worked as expected using the TB3 dock. Once the DisplayPort adapter arrived, I found it worked as expected. Based on my experience, it does appear DisplayPort 1.4 is required to utilize the DisplayPort on the Beelink SER6 7735HS. Please note, all of the monitors I have connected to the 7735HS are 1080p.
